Seawall: nearing the end

The wall is coming to an end. We’re closer to the shore. Now, instead of building a free-standing structure, it’s transitioned into a retaining wall. We don’t feel as surrounded by the ocean any more. It’s a quicker trip in the excavator up the ramp to our staging ground. We set more rocks in a day. The wall grows more quickly.

Fitting that fall has arrived too. It’s that same fleeting feeling. We’re happy to be near the end and at the same time don’t want it to be over. We’re excited about our next projects but aren’t quite ready to let go of this one.
