Starting a stonewall - Southport, ME

We’re starting this wall in the middle. It seems backwards. Usually we start on one end and work our way across the wall. But these steps and their cheek ends will be the most difficult part of this build, so we decided to start there.

I get that nervous/excited feeling in my gut everytime we start a new wall. It’s the same feeling I had as a teenager before a basketball or football game. Or going in for a first kiss. It’s a good sign. It means you care about what you’re doing.

It’s not fear. It’s love for what we do. And the potential that exists in the joining of these stones.

This picture is just twelve stones stacked together. But for me, it’s my art.
